The existence of an emergency action plan underlines the action employees should take to ensure their safety if a fire or other emergency occurs. When constantly reviewed, coupled with proper employee training, this will result in fewer and less severe employee injuries and less structural damage to the facility during emergencies.
 
This course will deal with issues specific to the workplace and an evaluation will be done. Participants will go through mock exercises/emergency simulations during the training to increase their responsiveness, considering workplace layout, structural features, and emergency systems.

1. Understand the legal requirements in relation to fire safety issues.
2. Understand basic fire science including classification of fires, fire triangle, how fire spreads and methods of extinguishing fire.
3. Understand the fire prevention measures available within the workplace.
4. Identify the safety equipment required within the workplace.
5. Demonstrate the safe and effective use of portable fire fighting equipment on a variety of controlled fire scenarios.
